DJDUKKHA

duk·kha  /ˈdo͝okə/  · Pali · noun
suffering; the unsatisfactoriness of things as they are; the first of the four noble truths.

Light made to be shared, and it does not last.

the premise

Everybody in the room brought something heavy.

Dukkha is not sadness. It is the older, harder idea: that things do not hold their shape. What you love changes. What you built breaks. What you were sure of turns out to be provisional.

You cannot fix that with a set. What you can do is put four hundred people in a dark room and make the impermanence feel like the point instead of the wound. A drop only works because it ends. That is the whole argument.

the structure

Four movements, because the source material has four.

The Buddha laid out four truths. A night has the same architecture, and naming it is not decoration: it is how the set gets built and how the room gets read.

01 / DUKKHA

It is heavy

Open where everyone actually is. Low, slow, no false lift. You do not lie to a room in the first twenty minutes.

02 / SAMUDAYA

It has a cause

Tension built on purpose. The clinging, the loop that will not resolve, the thing everyone is holding too tightly.

03 / NIRODHA

It can stop

The release. Not a trick, an actual ending. This is the only part people describe afterward, and it only lands because of the first two.

04 / MAGGA

There is a way out

The walk home. Something you can carry into Monday. The set ends; the frequency is supposed to survive the door.

before it starts

Nothing here is pretending to be finished.

No dates yet, no mixes posted, no mailing list collecting addresses it will never use. When there is a room and a time, this page will say so and it will say when.
